DPS PHANTOM Joins Forces with Aspen Skiing Company

Aspen now offers eco-friendly PHANTOM at retail and for demo use

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – November 13, 2018 – DPS PHANTOM, the permanent waxless glide base treatment that forever eliminates the need for waxing skis and snowboards, recently partnered with Aspen Skiing Company. Available for retail purchase at Four Mountain Sports stores, as well as on its fleet of premium demo skis and snowboards at their Aspen location, PHANTOM provides excellent on-snow glide for the life of a ski or board and eliminates the environmental issues surrounding topical wax.

“Phantom helps us do what we do best, which is provide a better on-mountain experience with less environmental harm,” said Auden Schendler, vice president of sustainability at Aspen Skiing Company. “We’ll keep wax particles out of the watershed, and we’ll ski or ride on a consistently fast base. We love it.”

Aspen’s on-snow verification, which took place last winter and spring, showed that PHANTOM’s permanent glide exceeded the performance of temporary all-temperature waxes across a broad spectrum of conditions. This led the company to apply PHANTOM to its premium demo skis at the Four Mountain Sports location at the base of Aspen Mountain for the 2018/19 ski season, as well as offering it for retail sale at all of its locations. Not only will guests have excellent on-snow glide, they will also be part of championing an initiative that benefits the environment. “Gaining the endorsement of Aspen Skiing Company, which is the de facto industry pacesetter in terms of sustainable and progressive environmental ski area business practices, is an important step forward towards our goal of helping all skiers and snowboarders realize the many benefits of PHANTOM,” said Stephan Drake, founder and CEO of DPS Skis. Developed by a team of expert chemists and material science engineers, PHANTOM’s patent-pending formula creates a hydrophobic environment that offers three undeniable benefits. First, unlike topical wax, PHANTOM is only applied once and permanently alters the chemistry of ski and board bases to make them both faster and harder for the life of the product. Second, PHANTOM offers consistently fast on-snow gliding performance across a broad range of conditions and temperatures. Third, and most importantly, PHANTOM is made up of non-reactive chemical functional groups that are both inert to the environment and safe to those applying it – something that traditional waxes have never been able to achieve.
